We discovered Africans who have chosen entrepreneurship in the host country and have quietly risen to the top in their sector of activity. President of a TV channel, dance and fitness institute, production of luxury bags, events agency, beauty products… so many sectors in which the sons and daughters of Africa in the diaspora have positioned their businesses.

The 2019 Delali Awards celebrated and recognized outstanding achievements in the promotion of African art and culture, as well as entrepreneurship and leadership in Africa and the African diaspora.

The program included a gala dinner, exhibition stands, conferences, B2B meetings, a fashion show, and other activities. The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the promotion of African art and culture. The African GrowthOpportunities Act (AGOA) is an American law passed and promulgated in May 2000 by the US Congress, under the aegis of President Bill Clinton, which allows Sub-Saharan African countries to export to the US market duty-free. Countries must meet certain criteria to be eligible.

Although AGOA has led to a 500% increase in African exports to the United States and generated nearly 1.3 million jobs, it has not achieved its objectives, with a reduction in the number of eligible products. The Delali Awards have set itself the mission of increasing the consumption of eligible African products in the United States by creating a community of entrepreneurs who consume AGOA products through the “I consume AGOA” initiative aimed at American entrepreneurs.
